G R: Pranaam Swamiji. Right now, I’m in a mental state where I don’t know what to believe, what to follow, born in a Hindu family. I’m completely confused of my beliefs. I need a right path to follow and understand what I need to worship. what is wrong and what is right in Hinduism.
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you, my daughter. Our Vedas, shastras, upnishads, Geeta, every true granth and ancient Rishis have first advised not to be demoralized, at any step of our lives. Manusmriti states ten pious qualities in man/woman who is religious/virtuous. Those are-
1. Dhriti (patience).
2. Kshama (forgiveness to those who are in pitiable condition).
3. Dum (control on senses, perceptions and mind so as to refrain from doing sins).
4. Asteya (not to steal).
5. Shauch (purity-external i.e., food, place of living body, surroundings etc., should be clean).
Second purity is (internal) regarding purification of mind and intellect by virtue of following Vedic path wherein daily Yajyen, havan with Ved mantras, listening of Vedas, doing name jaap of yoga, practicing ashtang yoga is done. We must never think about bad subjects. Our thoughts must always be pure, then only will we ever be happy.
6. Indriya Nigraha (i.e., to control one’s organs of action and perceptions (sense) as well as mind (mann) and channelizing them towards pious deeds following true path of Vedas.
7. Dhee (i.e., to make the intellect pure for which above quoted Vedic path is required to be adopted. Intellect becomes pure by attaining Vedic knowledge. So, one should try to listen vedas as to obey the same.
8. Vidya (there are two matters- vidya and avidya. Yog shastra sutra 2/5 (confirm it) states five signs of avidya-
I. Anitya-Nitya:- If we consider the destructive matter of the world as eternal like our human body and every matter of the world which are destructive yet due to indulgement in avidya, we try to gather and keep it forever.
II. Ashuchihi- Shuchi:- To consider impure matter as pure. For instance, the human body is not pure as it contains excretory materials like sweat, urine, filth in eyes, ears, nose etc. yet, we love our body and do not use it to worship real God, description of which is given in four Vedas, Vedas being eternal knowledge which emanates directly from God at the beginning of each creation.
III. Dukhaha- Sukhaha:- In the absence of the worldly as well as spiritual education people always remain unsatisfied, worried and sorrowful. But when they meet anyone, they state that they are fine etc. here, the person tries to show that he is fine/alright. That is, in reality, he is sad. But shows as if he is fine etc.
IV. Anatma- Atma:- Soul is eternal and never takes birth but takes body in the womb of adorable mother. When any death occurs everybody starts saying in ignorance (indulgement in illusion) that man-woman etc., has died. Infact, soul comes out and the body as quoted above is already destructive. Then why do we people weep. It is due to lack of knowledge of vedas.
The reverse knowledge of above quoted avidya is called vidya i.e., to think about reality only and not illusion.
9. Satya:- to be truthful. Shastras state- mansa, vacha, karmanna i.e., true thoughts must always be in mind. Similarly, true speech must be there and the action must always be true. So, accordingly in the matter of faith i.e., God listen eternal truth, think truth and our action in the shape of worship must be true. You know, God is eternal truth. He has blessed us with eternal knowledge of four Vedas, so until and unless we listen to Vedas and obey them, how would we be able to think/listen, speak and act in true manner.
10. Akrodh:- always to avoid anger which is the most harmful for human-body. Several sins are committed when a person indulges in anger. Bhagwad Geeta states that he who indulges in anger, he will be destroyed very soon.
You see, the above ten pious signs of righteousness (Dharma) have been stated by Manu Rishi who did hard study of Vedas and practised Ashtang Yoga Philosophy mentioned in Vedas. Then only he became able to write Manusmriti, wherein above quoted ten signs of righteousness have been stated. So, is the case in respect if Sri Ram, Sri Krishna Maharaj, Yudhishthir etc., and their public.
So, first of all, I would advise you to avoid tension and saying that you are in mental state. Everybody must always be brave which is first sign of religious matter. I mean to say, he is religious person who by virtue of above quoted Tapasya has attained above quoted ten qualities of righteousness in his conduct, otherwise not.
So, try to listen to Vedas, which is eternal religious path made by God. Some religious books based on Vedas, can be sent from here, if you so desire. The books will be sent on the receipt of your postal address. It will enable you to understand Vedic philosophy.
Dinesh: Pranam pandit ji. My father has blood pressure of 200. How they can lose that?
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. Regular medical advise, regular walk, light exercise, to refrain from taking fatty, fried food, to avoid anger completely would sure reduce B.P of your father. If possible, Herbocalm[Ayurvedic medicine. Manufactured in India by: CIPAXO PHARMACEUTICALS PVT. LTD. HSIDC, Gadpuri, Faridabad (HR)] can be taken twice a day, after meals in addition to allopathic medicine, to reduce B.P.
S P: I have kalsarpa dosh and mangalik dosh in my kundli. So what shall I do? Please tell me.
Swami Ram Swarup: Kaal Sarp Yog & other such defects in astrology
Vedas are eternal and knowledge direct from God wherein such kaal sarp yog etc., are not mentioned, please. So you need not to worry. Please try to do havan daily even from gayatri mantra, which is a great worship of God and will give you benefit. The meaning of kaal is also time. So death comes according to time for which the God has given life to us. This is all based on our previous lives’ pious deeds and sins. So there is no effect of kaal sarp yog etc., in the life, but effect of deeds (karmas) only. So, one must do always pious deeds to be happy. Present pious deeds can burn our previous deeds also and life’s time can also be extended wide Yajurveda mantra 3/62.
About Mangalik
To know the truth our ancient Rishis have advised to tally the matter with Vedas. Since in Vedas there is no mention of word manglik so you need not to worry. The people who are not manglik are also suffering from the problems mentioned by normal married people. Shri Ram married Sita after breaking the bow. And nobody saw Shri Ram’s teva or Anything. In Mahabharat Yudhisthir married Draupadi by piercing arrow in the eye of a fish (the eye was pierced by Arjuna the younger brother of Yudhisthir) and there was no teva and manglik etc. Savitri married Satyavan at her own wish without any teva or manglik etc. Pandu married Kunti and Madri without teva or manglik etc. Teva means janam patri made by pandit i.e., horoscope.
According to Vedas these are not required and are self-made story. So please do not worry about manglik etc. Future is based on pious deeds, hard working towards a right path and God helps those who help themselves.
P: Guru Ji Pranaam, what does NADI DOSH signify? Is there any remedy to counter this NADI dosh? Is marriage can be done if both Boy and Girl have same NADI?
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you.
Effect of Nadi dosh
Vedas, Shastras, Shri Guru Bani, Geeta, Ramayan never tell about nadi dosh etc., nor say about kundali/tipadda etc. So please oversight the dosh and you may go ahead for marriage. Moreover, the present astrology, kundali, nadi dosh, kaal sarp yog matters etc., have not been mentioned in Vedas and thus the learned do not accept it. So, please go ahead happily.
