Subhash: Why a person has to observe 3 days or 7 days or 10 days seclusion (not touching anything or anybody) for the death of distant relatives whom my generation would not have heard or seen him? More over the death would have taken 350 km away or in some other country where he would be living. And elders say the purity comes only after performing preta-dharpana after the above specified seclusion days. Please enlighten me. Regards
Swami Ram Swarup: Whatever you’ve stated in your question about seclusion of 7, 10 etc., days on the death of distant relative, is a custom made by us and not made by God in Vedas. So, learned never perform the said custom, please. Tarpann means to satisfy the parents, elders and others etc. So, satisfaction can only be carried out while our parents are alive and not after that.

Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. If a person does practice daily, both times to sit on siddhasan. After a long time practice (weeks, months etc.) when he experiences divine pleasure while sitting on the said asan, then it is called that he has got siddhi of that asan.
B: Panama swami ji can u suggest if I can be with opposite gender during the period of vrat of hanuman ji? I mean to say as I I have taken vow to continue it for 10 years so is it necessary to not to go near my girl friend during 10 years. So swami ji I will be highly obliged if you provide me this information.
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. Yajurveda never permits a boy or girl to give their heart to opposite sex before marriage. You see in the beginning of the earth, Vedas’ knowledge emanates from God and same pious divine deed took place in the beginning of this creation also. So, Vedas are God made. Within two thousand five hundred years, present sects has also been originated by human-being and not by God. I mean to say that to be always separate from opposite sex (unmarried person) is an eternal rule is made by God and not by man. So, we must obey God’s preach otherwise God punishes.
