Anonymous: Academician professor Dr. Mislav Ježić, Indologist and philologist gave a lecture on the Vedas and animal sacrifice. What is your comment on all these claims?

His views are as follows:

1) He was talking about the Aryan invasion.

Swami Ram Swarup: No please, in fact Aryan lived originally here.

Anonymous: 2) He said that the Aryans were warrior tribes, lived a nomadic life and had no cities.

Swami Ram Swarup: It is false to say that “Aryans were warrior tribes, lived a nomadic life and had no cities”. In Vedas there are two words explaining the meaning of Aryans.

i). Arya who are gentle, of good character follows Vedas, helpful that is having several good divine qualities.

ii). Anarya who are devils having bad character. So, Aryas are having good character as quoted above.

Anonymous: 3) He mentioned that there is a supreme God Indra and other gods and goddesses in the Vedas.

Swami Ram Swarup: It is also false. Rigveda mantra 1/164/46 says that the eternal and everlasting true God is only One, but based on His divine qualities His names are unlimited. So, Indra is also name of God having qualities, “Almighty” etc. and the Supreme name of God is OM.

Anonymous: 4) He spoke about animal sacrifices in the Vedas.

Swami Ram Swarup: Dr. Mislav Ježić, has never studied Vedas that is why he is quoting false statements. Violence is strictly prohibited in Vedas.

Anonymous: 5) He said that the Vedas theoretically mention human sacrifices to the gods.

Swami Ram Swarup:  This is also false.

Anonymous: 6) He said that the sacrificed animal goes to heaven and the one who sacrificed that animal.

Swami Ram Swarup: This is all against the Vedas. To get final liberation is in the hand of Almighty God based on the deeds of an individual, it is not controlled by anybody else. Instead, who spread violence, God punishes them badly.

Anonymous: 7) He said that the Aryans ate meat.

Swami Ram Swarup: False statement, against the Vedas. Instead in Vedas non -veg is prohibited. In fact, Aryans were the follower of Vedas and follow non-violence.

Anonymous: 8) He used to say that there is no history in the Vedas.

Swami Ram Swarup: Yes, there is no history or any story in the Vedas. Because Vedas are eternal and everlasting.

Anonymous: 9) He said that the Vedic gods are not anthropomorphic.

Swami Ram Swarup: Yes, there is only one God in Vedas who is formless, omnipresent, Almighty, etc.

Anonymous: 10) He says that the Brahmins have faithfully transmitted the original Vedas.

Swami Ram Swarup: Yes please.
