Dadiamma: What is the significance of reading Ramayan, Gita & Bible etc. in today’s world when so many spiritual & other moral books are available?
Swami Ram Swarup: Like other spiritual and moral books, Valmiki Ramayan, Tulsikrit Ramayan, Bhagwad Geeta and Bible also contain spiritualism as well as moral duties. Vedas-shastras, Valmiki Ramayan especially give the knowledge of eternal and everlasting education. Study of Vedas reveals that all four Vedas preach three eternal educations-
THREE EDUCATIONS
There are three educations/preach about
(i) knowledge – science etc(Gyan) in Rigveda,
At the time of every creation, knowledge of four Vedas emanates direct from God and is originated in the heart of four Rishis in non-sexual creation. In the said process, first of all, the knowledge of Rigveda advents and originates in the heart of Rishi Agni. In this veda though the description of every worldly matter right from straw to God has been mentioned but it speaks especially about matters concerning science of the world. God has described qualities/nature of all materialistic articles of the universe. Therefore, the entire mankind must get the benefit of eternal knowledge of Vedas by knowing about right from straw to Brahma i.e., God. The meaning of “Ric” is that wherein the qualities and nature of all matters have been described and the meaning of veda is knowledge i.e., true knowledge. These words are used in making the pious word “Rigveda”.
(ii) In Yajurveda, the form of true, pious deeds have been preached. So, in the absence of listening of Yajurveda, we can’t know about real moral duties of students, married persons, vanprasthis and sanyasis. Even the moral and social obligations of King, parents, children etc., can’t be known.
(iii) In Samveda there is preach about eternal true worship of God like Yajyen, name jaap, practice of ashtang yoga by following which an aspirant realises God/attains salvation.
(iv) Atharvaveda authenticates the above three vedas’ preach. It also contains comprehensive knowledge of medical science.
So, Almighty God who is formless, creates, nurses, destroys and again creates universe. This process is eternal and everlasting. So, at the time of beginning of each non-sexual creation, the knowledge of above four Vedas emanates direct from God and is originated in the heart of four Rishis. The knowledge is given by the God to the human-beings for their welfare/benefit because until the knowledge is given by somebody, no one can attain the knowledge. In the beginning of the creation, no preacher, guru, acharya, teacher is present there to teach. So, God gives the knowledge.
You see, knowledge is gained when it is given by someone. Ancient and present learneds say that at the beginning of creation, no spiritual or educated person exists who can give knowledge. At that time, God showers mercy on human beings and originates the eternal knowledge of Vedas in the heart of four Rishis. In Ramayan, Bhagwad Geeta and spiritual granths. There is a conclusion of Vedic culture giving the above quoted three educations of Vedas. But to be a learned person, I mean to say to get complete knowledge, we’ll have to study the four Vedas from learned acharya of Vedas wherein the complete universal matters, moral duties and way of eternal true worship has been preached. The main motto of life is to attain peace/salvation while discharging all moral duties and the said way exists in Vedas. Geeta, Ramayan and other moral books only contain the limited knowledge of moral duties and spiritualism which has already been briefed in Vedas. I mean to
say Rishi-munis first studied Vedas and then only wrote the said culture. The life of Sri Ram, Sri Krishna Maharaj, Hanuman and other Rishi Munis and dignitaries of ancient times show that the said dignitaries followed the path. Therefore they got permanent peace and showered love to all living beings. So, study of Vedas, Ramayan, Geeta etc., is necessary. However, I would like to include that in Satyug, Treta and Dwapur, the present sects or knowledge of Bhagwad Geeta etc., did not exist. So, it means still only Vedas’ knowledge can serve the purpose like in past three Yugas.
Otherwise study of several books is not able to give peace to human beings and not even able to promote International brotherhood including the formula of –“Live and Let Live”.
Anonymous: Pranam, Guruji. Charan Sparsh As informed earlier I would reach Ashram on 25th March morning for 3 days. Hereby I would like to seek your advice. I have read all books sent by you except Patanjali Yog Darshan part-II and Bhagwat Geeta. These books have removed lot of illusion and have come to basic conclusion that only moksh should be motto of life by following Vedic path of ashtang yog. I want to follow Ashtang yog and to start it at the earliest after meeting you as per your guidance and teachings. My main concern is that I want to control mind since being living cosmopolitan city there are various distractions in daily life and mind unknowingly gets involved in illusion. Actually I would have preferred to live at remote holy place like your Ashram where there is no illusion and mind can be concentrated only in GOD but due to job and family attachment can’t do so. You have stated that Vedic path can also be followed in family life but
here also I would like to seek your teaching to do a practice so that mind can be controlled and does not fall in illusion again and again. I think your teaching of meditation, pranayam, dhyan etc. as part of ashtang yog will enable to control this. As taught by you, reading of books is only informative but personally learning from Acharya is real Vedic path. So in spite of reading books I am at zero level at present and only illusion is removed. So after your teachings only I have to start and follow right path. While reading said books various questions are coming to my mind so Guruji shall I list these down and can ask these to you when I meet you or I shall ask these through website only so that during my visit, you can give your time for personal teaching only. Please guide for this. Pranam.
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. Your views are highly appreciated and a person with your calibre can get progress in spiritualism as well as in family life. Your pious decision to come here is also a pious step towards spiritual Vedic education. You are welcome here, my son.
The question and answer is the best way to overcome illusion, say all the four Vedas. So, it is also your good idea to make a list of questions to be asked and the answers will be given here in detail.
My heartiest blessings to you son.
Dadi Amma: With which mantras newly initiated Swami be welcomed in an ashram?
Swami Ram Swarup: To welcome any dignitary Swastivachan ved-mantras are chanted which are available in any Arya Samaj Hawan book, please. In my view, first five mantras are enough.
