Arulmozhi: Karmas are the result of the action. Once we attain salvation, we remain in salvation for a specific period of time. After the time gets over, we take birth as a human being. For taking birth as a human being, does the soul has remaining karma from the previous births or if it gets nullified during salvation, how does the soul takes rebirth as a human being? Please kindly answer to my query with Veda Mantra. Yours Vedically.
Swami Ram Swarup: Yes, when we do pious deeds or sins its result is awarded by God in the shape of happiness and sorrows respectively vide Yajurved mantra 7/48. Salvation means, by following vedic path in which Gaynkand(science i.e., worldly education) karmakand (form of deeds) and Upasana Kand (vedic worship, praise and prayer of God by performing Yajyen); Upasana also includes name jaap of God and daily hard practice of Ashtang yoga under guidance of learned acharya; then according to Yog shatra sutra 4/29,30,31, a yogi attains Samadhi and realizes God and thus attains salvation. The meaning of salvation is to destroy all the previous lives’ and present life’s pious deeds and sins. So, salvation is attained when a yogi becomes totally free from facing any type of result of his karmas. It means when he, after expiry of time of salvation, gets rebirth, at that time also he has no karmas to be faced. Naturally, after taking rebirth, he will himself create the new karmas- good or bad; based on which his rebirth depends. Such rebirth, after salvation, is mentioned in the following ved mantras-
(1) Rigved mantra 1/24/1
(2) Rigved mantra 1/24/2
Rigved mantra 10/135/1, 2 state that God blesses us with human body because He wants to enable us to face our previous lives’ deeds- bad and good as quoted above. This is the law applicable to ordinary people i.e., people who do not follow vedic path but enjoy their lives, duly indulged in illusion and duly attracted by worldly affairs like wealth, gold, silver, family, vices (kaam, krodh etc.). Such persons are required to face the result of their previous lives’ deeds only and present lives’ deed will be faced in their next birth. Here, I would like to give a sketch of karmas –
Three types of Deeds
There are three types of deeds (karmas) – sanchit, prarabhadh and kriyamann. Suppose one soul has to take birth (body). It means he has to face total number of deeds of his all previous lives and these deeds are called sanchit karmas but sanchit deeds are huge/unlimited and cannot be faced in one life. So the karmas which can be faced in one life are called prarabhadh (luck-destiny). So God has not made our luck at His own but Almighty God has considered the deeds which we have already done.
Yajurved mantra 7/48 clarifies that human being is free to do any deed good or bad but God only awards the result. Now the balance deeds from sanchit deeds will be counted in the next life. Now the deeds which we do in our day today present life are called kriyamann.
If we do pious deeds according to Vedas, shastras and holy books and based on pious preaches of Rishi, Muni/learned saints then our all sanchit deeds are burnt and we can get salvation. Human beings are free in the matter of doing deeds good or bad. But result will be awarded by God. So we must worship and do pious deeds under guidance of a learned Guru. One should go always ahead for hard working, pious deeds, worship to make future bright himself. One should always work hard towards a right path.
Worship does not mean that we are free to discharge only our family duties, education, etc., but rather it is a sin. We have to get progress in both way simultaneously i.e., spiritualism and worldly progress i.e., science, education, duties towards family etc. God creates the universe according to His eternal law framed in Vedas which are always unchangeable and unchallengeable. So we have to follow the law of God always to get long happy life.
So, based on previous lives’ deeds, taken from sanchit karma, we get our next birth. Second situation in next Rigved mantra 10/135/4 is stated that those who make contact with learned acharya and follow vedic path they sure get salvation by destroying all their deeds.
Harsha: Pranam Swamiji Dhanyawad. Swamiji mein havan nahin karti hoon. Savere aur sandhya ko sandhya mantrosahit karti hoon. Aur fir gayatri mantra ka jap arthsahit karti hoon. Kya etna hi theek hai ya dhyan, mein kaise kroon aurkitnesamya..kirpya dhyan ki vidhi bataeye. Havan kesbhi mantra nahin pad pati hoon. Mein Arab desh mein rahti hoon. Every year india jati hoonwahan per sastriji ke duwara havan kar leti hoon. Yahan jo kar pati hoon kya etne mein mujhe kucch labh milega y a nahin kirpya bataeye. Thank you very much Harsh bala
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you, my daughter. Beti, hawan na karna Ishwar ke khilaf jaana hai. Rigved mantra 1/24/15 mein clearly kaha hai ki jo Ishwar ke vedon mein kahi agya manega weh hee sukh prapt karega, aur koi nahin. Isliye aapko hawan kee vidhi seekhnee chahiye aur nitya hawan karke Ishwar ko prasann karna zaroori hai.
Yeh aapka vichar ya kisi bhi manushya ka vichar ho sakta hai ki hawan na kiya jaye aur kewal sandhya ke mantron ko munh zubani bol liya jaye. Yeh Ishwar ki agya nahin hai. Aap is ved mandir se nikali “Yajyen karma sarvashreshth Ishwar pooja” pustak mangvayein , usey padein, to unhee mantron mein kai jagah Bhagwan ne kaha ki Ay! Manushya tu agni mein ved mantron se aahuti daal jisse tera aur tere parivar ka kalyann hoga. Ab Ishwar ki is agya ko hum kaise nazar andaz karein, yeh to paap hoga. Jaise Gayatri mantra mein kehte hain ‘Dheemahi’ matlab Hey! Prabhu hum Tera dhyan dharte hain arthat vedic niyam samajh kar yog sadhna mein baithkar, Tera dhyan dharte hain parantu sansar mein kitne nar-nari aise hongey jo Gayatri mantra padkar Ishwar ke dhyan mein baithte hain. Woh to na ke barabar hee hongey phir Gayatri mantra bolney ka labh to kuchh bhi na raha. Kyunki hum munh se bolte hain, par dhyan mein nahin baithte aur sadhna to mann, vachan, karam teenon se hotee hai.
Again, my blessings to you.
