Prerna: Kindly tell me the meaning of Atharvaveda 4/34/2 in normal words, specially in word “Strainamesham”
Swami Ram Swarup: The meaning of Atharvaveda mantra 4/34/2 is as under-
(ANASTHAHA POOTAHA) Those who are above the human body i.e., by doing worship have controlled their mind (POOTAHA) who have become pure by controlling the senses, mind and intellect (PAVANEIN SHUD’DHAHA) whose life has become the purest by doing hard practice of prannayam daily (SHUCHYAHA) are pure and have become learned, they (SHUCHIM LOKAM APIYANTI) they get the purest lokas i.e., they get next birth in a pious human body. (ESHAAM SHISHNUM JAATVEDAHA NA PRA DAHATI) sensuality does not bother them i.e., they do not burn in the fire of sensuality. (ESHAM SWARGEY LOKEY BAHU STRAIYANNUM) i.e., their house is like a heaven and in their said heaven, they reside with several women i.e., sisters, sister-in-laws, wife and mother.

Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. Death means the alive soul has left the body. I mean to say that before doing cremation or before keeping the body in tomb, the soul has already left the body. Again, after leaving the body, then only cremation and burial etc., religious customs are carried out in which soul has no role.
