Rohit: Swami ji-pranam plz enlighten me by giving the meaning of these two verses Rigveda 6/17/1 and Rigveda 10/85/13 And plz tell is these two mantras telling to take non-veg if yes then why?
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you.
“PIBAA SOMAMABHI YAMUGRA TARDA URVAM GAVYAM MAHI GRINNANA INDRA.
VI YO DHRISHNNO BADHISHO VAJARHASTA VISHWA VRITRAMAMITRIYAA SHAVOBHIHI.”
(RIGVEDA MANTRA 6/17/1)
Oh! (VAJRAHASTA) He who has weapon in his hands (DHRISHNNU) very strong (INDRA) desirous of glory (YAH) who (SHAVOBHEEHI) from power (VRITRAM) like sun for clouds.
Meaning- The king or a warrior who has weapon in his hands and desires to attain huge glory should overcome the enemies as sun overcomes the clouds.
Mantra further states- (VISHWA) all (AMITRIYA) enemies (VE) especially (VADHEESHAHA) destroy.
Meaning- Oh! King or warrior, you especially destroy all the enemies.
(UGRA) glorious (MAHEE) great (GAVYAM) cow’s ghee (GRINNANNAHA) praising i.e., while praising the cow’s ghee (YUM) whose (URUVAM) able to commit violence (ABHI TARDAHA) after committing violence (SOMUM PIBA) take extract of herbs i.e., warrior praises several good qualities of cow’s ghee, therefore, he takes cow’s ghee to get the physical and mental power, then the warrior becomes capable for those who deserve violence i.e., who deserve punishment in the shape of violence to be inflicted on them. Such learned warriors keep the sinner away and accept only the noble people. Such warriors always destroy the enemy in the war. Such warriors deserve to take extract of herbs, fresh fruits to maintain their body.
Idea- In this mantra, Vachaklupto alankar exists. In the mantra, the meaning of Indra is the king or a warrior who has weapons in his hands, i.e., power of weapons and army under his control desires to achieve huge glory of utilizing his power/strength to kill the enemies, who disturb the public. Such warriors are learned, maintain Brahamcharya and then get power to destroy the enemy.
So, the meaning of Indra is not God but a warrior or a king, who protects the nation. Vedas, shastras, Upnishads etc., have already clarified that God is formless and Almighty. Almighty means God has all unlimited powers to do His pious deeds for universe. So, without any weapons or help, He creates the universe and even creates the metal which are utilized to make weapons, then why will He take the assistance of any weapon to kill the sinner.
“SOORYAAYAA VAHATUHU PRAAGAAT SAVITA YAMAVAASRIJAT.
AGHAASU HANYANTE GAAVORJUNYOHO PARYUHYATE.”
(Rigveda mantra 10/85/13)
This mantra relates to bride and bridegroom only.
So, above two mantras never tell to take non-vegetarian. Actually, non-vegetarian intake along with intake of addiction is strictly prohibited in Vedas. So, no question of intake of non-vegetarian.
D S: Is it possible for me to job now? If yes then which so I can earn money?
Swami Ram Swarup: Namasteji. In this connection I paste my one of answers-
As you know, this all is always in the hands of Almighty God Parmatma. But God helps those who help themselves. So, I am sure that you‘ve been doing hard work to seek the job. I pray to God to fulfill your desire soon. Also, please chant Gayatri mantra daily and do hawan with Gayatri mantra daily both times. In the end of hawan, please pray to God to fulfill your desires. I hope God will sure listen to you.
Kumar: Swamiji, Chran Saparsh!! Thanks for answering my question–“Vedas are eternal knowledge which emanates direct from Formless, Almighty..)
I need to know more. I meant that, since God is omnipresent, we can worship all things & beings in any form(or in gross form)by considering God is present in them or we are worshiping to GOD’s presence in anyone. I felt that difference in Dharmas is due to difference in following “mool” or basic & “sthool” or gross form of any substance. Few follow only mool roop(eg. alah, vedas etc.) whereas few other only sthool roop(eg Cristians, Lord Krishna followes). Few others may just be following intermediatories eg Lord Rama. But I feel we should accept both mool & sthool roops to sustain here–neither mool roop only nor sthool roop only still more nor intermediatories. For example, when we want to purshage a new car, we first touch & bang car body to evaluate its meatal(mool roop) than we also see its latest features & look–i.e. sthool roop. Probably, Ayodhya non resolving issue is due to it that we are following intermediatory inspite Lord krishna was latest avtara–stool roop of Same God. We do need cotton but we also need now to make it in cloth & garments. Best regards.
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. You are welcome, please. Yes, God being Omnipresent resides in the entire universe/all things. But all things are not formless God. So, materialistic things can not be worshipped. Secondly, all four Vedas and even Bhagwad Geeta shloka 18/61 states that God manifests in heart of Human-beings only. So, according to Vedas, our worship should be that worship which inspires and gives result to a devotee to enter his thought/vrittti within him and not in outside world (Yog Shastra sutra 3/1 also refers). Samveda is an Upasana kand i.e., tells about worship. In this connection, Samveda mantra 279 states- (INDRA) Oh! God, (YAT) when (PRAAK NRIBHEEHI) before the mankind (APAAK) west (UDAK) north (VA) and (NYOOK) below i.e., in all directions, (HOOYASEY) are called for. Then (SIMA) all together (TURVASHEY ASI) exists nearest. Though God is omnipresent but listens when He is prayed in Yajyen etc., hence exists nearest, say the Vedas.
(PRASHARDH) Oh! Most Glorious God, (PURU) several (NRISHOOTAHA) is called by human-beings i.e., You are prayed by several human-beings. But (AANWAY ASI) resides in the human-beings i.e., when a devotee worships God according to Vedas, the omnipresent God manifests within him and not outside.
There is an example. Electric current flows in the wire. When the electric supply is coming continuously then everyone is pleased. But when electric current is distruptted/discontinued then wiring is there in house but remains of no use till the time electricity is again restored. Similarly, The God is in everything, every matter of the universe and every matter of universe has its value due to the presence of Omnipresent God alone within it. Now, we see that the quality of the wire are separate/distinctly different from electric current. Similarly, the quality of matter always differs from the quality of Omnipresent God. When a person will be asked to state the quality of Formless, Omnipresent, Almighty God, he will only state accordingly and would never include the quality of wire and vice versa.
So, when the matter of worship arises, then quality of Formless, Almighty God are repeated and considered and not that of materialistic destructive articles of universe made of non-alive Prakriti and not made of Alive, Omnipresent, Almighty God.
So, we worship only Formless, Almighty God and not the worldly matters because both the matters differ distinctly from each other. Difference in dharma is there, no doubt. The eternal dharma is made by God and rest of the present dharmas are made by humans for their convenience.
Difference in dharma is due to difference in following mool or basic and sthool or gross form of any substance , are due to lack of eternal knowledge of Vedas which emanates directly from God. For example- Vedas and six shastras (i.e., ancient holy books written by Rishis also) define dharma as to do the pious deeds mentioned in Vedas which give us peace and long, happy life in present life as well as in the next birth. So, in the present times, this definition of religion (dharma) differs because the present dharmas are made by human-begins and the eternal dharma is made by eternal, everlasting, Almighty God. Manusmriti, shloka 2/6 clearly states “Vedaha Akhilo Dharmamoolam”
Here, the meaning of dharma is moral duties which are described in Vedas. (Bhagwad Geeta shloka 3/15 also refers)
So, the above reference can be told as “mool”/basic laws to define religion (dharma) which has been kept aside nowadays due to lack of knowledge of mool i.e., eternal, fundamental knowledge of Vedas, made by God.
So, we as per the fundamental law of Vedas, are to accept only mool roop respecting good preach of sthool roop. As regards touching of car etc., no doubt, it is mool and sthool shape of metal which can be touched. But the mool (Formless shape of God) can never be touched. He does not come in sthool roop so question of touching His sthool roop does not arise. You are most welcome, please.
