Vidya Sagar: Pranam Guruji, 1) I heard in one realty show, that viswamitra maharshi wrote the gayatri mantra. But i got from your answers that gayatri mantra is from vedas. Can you please highlight on this.
2) I was started reading your book sri bhaghawadgita ek vedik rahasye…. I just completed bhaghawagita as it is written by srila prabhu pada. His word to word meaning is clear but his explanation is basically on “Krisha is the GOD” ( He is from ISCON ).Other then that his explanation is also good and understanding and according to vedas knowledge as i acquired ( I am novoice of vedas, just learning from your website ). Now My question is: Vyas Maharshi wrote this chapter:
Bhagawan Uvacha: I never saw any book says, Krishna Uvacha, where as your book says Krishna Uvacha. Which one is correct.
These are my views: Bhagawan Uvacha is only correct because, Krishna is speaking as a learned,Only Bhagawaans views as per vedas. He is not speaking himself of his views but views of Bhagawaan. This may be reason that Sri Vyas Maharishi wrote Bhagawaan Uvacha instead of Krishna Uvacha. Please high light and correct me please.
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. Gayatri mantra is in the following three Vedas-

OM BHURBHUVAHA SWAHA TAT SAVITUR VARENNYAM BHARGODEVASYA DHEEMAHI DHIYO YO NAHA PRACHODYAT.

[Yajurveda mantra 36/3,

Samveda mantra 1462,
Rigveda mantra 3/62/10]

As you know, Vedas are eternal knowledge which emanate directly from God and are originated in the heart of four Rishis in the beginning of non-sexual creation. So, neither Rishi-Muni, Tapasvis nor men, women, saints etc., have written any ved mantra.

(ii) The word ‘Bhagwan’ is also used in respect of learned Rishi-Munis, so to quote Bhagwan Krishna, Bhagwan Ram, Bhagwan Pipplad, Bhagwan Valmikiji, is correct and is according to Vedas vide Atharvaveda mantra 3/16/5 –

BHAGA EVA BHAGWAN ASTU DEVASTENA BHAGWANTAH SYAAM.
TAM TWA BHAGA SARV IJJOHVEEMI SA NO BHAGA PURETA BHAVEH.

I also paste my one of articles –

Bhagwan

The meanings are always based on authentic knowledge of Vedas/shastras and not based on self creation. In Atharvaveda mantra 3/16/5 the meaning of Bhagwan is God. The literal meaning of Bhagwan is glory, fortune, wealth, supremacy, grandeur, majesty, greatness, etc., etc. So meaning of Bhagwan is, he who has all such divine qualities. The another meaning of Bhagwan is also “a Yogi” who after worshipping God by yoga philosophy and by studying Vedas etc., attains all such divine qualities but such Yogi can not create the universe. So a Yogi is not Brahma but equivalent to Brahma and is addressed as Bhagwan.

‘Dhan’ + ‘wan’ = ‘Dhanwan’. ‘Dhan’ means assets and ‘wan’ means holder, so ‘dhanwan’ means he who holds assets, money etc., similarly ‘Bhag’+ ‘wan’ = ‘Bhagwan’. ‘Bhag’ means as mentioned above i.e., glory, etc., etc. So he who holds glory etc., etc., he is called Bhagwan and he is a Rishi/Yogi. So Sri Ram and Sri Krishna and any Rishi Muni like Pipplad, Vyas, etc., can be called Bhagwan.

But it does not mean that the said dignitaries were Almighty God, who creates, nurses and destroys the universe.

S S: Please send all other books and cds. Thanks.
Swami Ram Swarup: Books are being sent to you, please.
