K Guruprasad: Crores of Pranams Maharajji. There are lot of videos in the website Youtube.com and I’m frequent visitor to this site for learning useful information. Today I came across one Video which shows that the person claims himself an Arya samaji and preaching very wrongly about the Satyartha prakash written by Swami Dayanandji. I cross verified the book shown by him in this video, but the book he is showing seems to be genuine, however, his interpretation is not correct as he is not showing the full explanation, however, trying to decive the viewers that Swami Dayanandji is wrong. Secondly, he showed the Yajurved translation done by Swamiji, in which, in Yajurved 1/15, the Mantra says “Agne Thanurasi” and while translation this Mantra, Swami Dayanadji has left translating this word because Agne means Parameshwar, Thanu means Sharir and Asi means Has., i.e Parameshwar has Sharir. He claims that,Since this is against the principles of Swamijis preaching if Nirakar Ishwar,Swamiji has left translating this word. I checked the Yajurved book, and can find this word is missed by Swamiji in translation. Can you pl explain on the exact meaning of this word in reference to this Mantra which will be useful for everyone as people normally speaks out of context. Crores of Pranams Maharajji.
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you all, my son. The man’s interpretation on Satyarth Prakash is wrong, as his interpretation is not based on Vedas. Similarly, the interpretation on several holy granths like Bhagwad Geeta etc., are mostly wrong. In Yajurveda mantra 1/15 – the original pronunciation “Agnes Tanurasi” and when grammatically its Sandhi-vichched is done then it will be pronounced as “Agnihi Tanuhu asi” but not as “Agne Thanurasi”.
Now, the meaning of “Agnihi” is worldly fire. ‘Tanuhu’ implies like human-body and “asi” means is. Before it, several words have been mentioned in this mantra. So, the meaning is in reference to context with the other ved mantra words. The meaning of ‘Agnihi Tanuhu’ will be that – in this world, the worldly fire of agnihotra/yajyen is spread yajyen like the human-body. The agnihotra/yajyen, which has been performed is a expanded yajyen like the body of worldly fire.
Idea- the worldly fire is everywhere i.e., it is in every atom of the matter of universe. Here, above quoted Yajurveda mantra preaches that our agnihotra is also like a form of worldly fire i.e., agnihotra/yajyen, when is performed, spreads everywhere. Therefore, everybody must perform daily agnihotra/yajyen to spread every atom of the offering. (havan Samagri, ghee etc.) In the atmosphere which purifies the environment and destroys pollution. Naturally, it is beneficial for all living-beings. So, the mantra is related to previous mantras 12 to 14 in which the benefits of the agnihotra/yajyen are mentioned. In this mantra, also the benefits of Yajyen/agnihotra are stated. To perform yajyen, worldly fire is needed. Then only the item of samagri, ghee etc., are spread in the atmosphere when these are offered in burning fire of agnihotra. That is why, here is comparison between agnihotra and agni. The items offered in agnihotra are non-alive matters and are not omnipresent whereas worldly fire is omnipresent. But, when agnihotra is performed then the items are spread everywhere as worldly agni is everywhere. So, the meaning of Agni can never be Almighty God because Almighty God is ever away from each item of the world. God resides in each item but no item touches God. Secondly, the items of samagri cannot be offered in Almighty God. Items are always offered in worldly fire, to spread them all over the world. My blessings to you.
Aman: Pranam Guruji As you say that this creation is limited. Though the souls are fixed but they are countless in numbers. My question is what is beyond this universe and sky? Is it infinite space out there? And what purpose does it serve?
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you.
Beyond this universe, divilok exists which is immortal i.e., this universe is created and destroyed one day but divilok is neither created nor destroyed. Yajurveda mantra 31/3 states that this world exists in 1/4th part of Almighty God, remaining three parts are called Amritam Divi. So, the whole world exists in one part of God. So, The Almighty God is beyond this world i.e., world is smaller than Almighty God.
The purpose of God being beyond universe is to realise that God is above calculation, imagination, beyond description whereas every matter of universe educates us to think that the universe no where exists in comparison to God.
Sanjay: I live in India. I wish to learn Sri Rudram. How long will it take? what is the proper way to learn it. Thanks for your answer.
Swami Ram Swarup: Sorry, I cannot tell about Sri rudram because it is not mentioned in Vedas. However, in Vedas it is preached that God is Formless, Omnipresent, creates, nurses and destroys the universe and His worship is performed by doing Agnihotra, name jaap and hard practice of Ashtang Yoga Philosophy.
