A S: Can Durga pooja and hawan be performed on Saturdays? Which day of the week would be the most auspisious?
Swami ramswarup: Durga pooja is not mentioned in Vedas, please. Vedas preach to worship only one formless, omnipresent, Almighty God, who creates, nurses and destroys the universe. But those who wish to worship, they may go ahead at their own. As regards the day on which Durga Pooja is to be performed may please be verified from any local pandit/Purohit.
Hawan with Ved mantras, under guidance of learned acharya of Vedas or Vedic Purohit can be performed at any day which suits because hawan is a Vedic worship.
N: Aatmhtya ka kya prashchit hai. jayramjiki
Swami Ram Swarup: Jab kisi nein atmahatya jaisa ghinona paap kar hee liya hai to uska prayashchit kaun kareiga kyunki prayashchit khud karna padta hai usney to apna agla janam bigaad liya. Ab raha sawaal ki koi atmahatya karne se pehle yeh prashna kar raha ho to usey yeh samajh leina chahiye ki usne to bina atmahatya kiye hee paap kar liya kyunki paap teen prakaar se kahey gaye hain-
(i) mann se paap
(ii) vanni se paap
(iii) karma kar ke paap
Isliye aisa bura karam sochna tak paap hai aur aisa nahin ho sakta ki prayshchit kar lo aur baad mein atmahatya karlo.
Hamein samajhna chahiye ki Ishwar ne bahut hee keemtee manushya ka sharer diya hai aur usmein usney kuch hamaare liye umar bhi nishchit kar dee hai. Us umar se pehle agar koi mrityu ke baat sochta bhi hai to weh Ishwar ka niradar hai jo ki ghor paap hai. Hum Ishwar bhakti aur mehnut se apne jeevan ko safal karein, aalsi hokar na baithhey rahein.
Nitesh: Dear swamiji ,as written in your book that bramachari can live upto 400 yrs ,in today world if one practice brahmacharya form age 1 to 48 and continues it, can he defy death?
Swami Ram Swarup: Yes, the Brahmachari if follows the advise of Vedas, does daily havan/yajyen and practice of ashtang yoga philosophy like Bheesham Pitamah, Vyas Muniji and other Rishis-Munis, then he may defy the death, sure.
You should do the said worship under the guidance of learned acharya of Vedas and yoga philosophy.
Here, the meaning of defying death is salvation.
