P: Guraji namaste, The Garuda Purana states that the eldest son or male relative is to light funeral pyre and perform other rituals. But to my little knowledge there is no mention of who is to perform the above mentioned rites in the Vedas. So can a daughter light the funeral pyre of her parents if she is mentally strong?. This will also reduce the craze to have male children and both sons and daughters can be looked after with love and affection. Guruji I will be very thankful to get a true answer as God rests in all humans whether male or female.
Swami Ram Swarup: There are eighteen puranns which are mostly against the Vedas i.e., against the Almighty God. Then why to follow the false path. We must follow true Vedic path to attain long, happy life.
K: I have a prospect for marriage who has shani mangala yoga. Can we get married?
Swami Ram Swarup: If the boy is earning well, educated and you can spend your life to look after the boy and to maintain your husband’s house properly, to spend long, happy life and the boy is also capable to take your care properly then you both may solemnize marriage. As regards, other problem quoted by you- Match should be fixed based on the good qualities of both sides. As per Vedas, it has no concern with teva, nadi dosh or manglik etc. Actually, such matters are not even mentioned in Vedas.
Prema Joshi: May a president re-elected in India?
Swami Ram Swarup: You know, the president is elected in India after every five years. So, at the stipulated time, next president will automatically be elected as per the rules of constitution of India. As regards, re-election of present president is between five years of tenure, it is not possible.

Swami Ram Swarup: It depends on your hard working and pious deeds. One should worship God daily to get His blessings in every matter. Good job, education, richness, happiness etc., is the result of previous life’s pious deeds and present life’s hard working, dedication, devotion, hardworking, honesty etc. And in this life one should always also do real worship of God to finish the obstacles if any which may be due to previous life’s bad deeds. So worship is always required along with hard working, devotion, dedication towards right path to get progress in the life.
