Satyanarayana: Dear Swamiji, What is life and purpose of it. And also how to know one’s life purpose?
Satyanarayana: Dear Swamiji, What is life and purpose of it. And also how to know one’s life purpose?
Swami Ram Swarup: To come in a womb of a mother of any living being, based on our good and bad deeds is the life and the purpose of life of only human-beings is to realise God. By which all the effects of sins etc., is destroyed. To know the purpose of the life regular contact with learned acharya of Vedas and Yoga Philosophy , name jaap of God , hawan/Yajyen and hard practice of Ashtang Yoga Philosophy is required by which the five senses, five perceptions and mind are controlled and enables an aspirant to realise God and to attain salvation.
N. O.: I am suffering from depression and anxiety for quite some time. I am not getting relief by prayers and meditation. Is it due to evil influence? What can I do?
Swami Ram Swarup: Ved-shastras preach that the human body is the most supreme body amongst all living beings’ bodies and those who have attained it, they can destroy all their diseases, problems, tensions etc., and are able to make their future the best. They can attain long, happy life, but it requires real worship of God. So, you are also advised to continue your medical treatment and in addition regular contact with learned acharya of Vedas and Yoga Philosophy , name jaap of God , hawan/yajyen and hard practice of Ashtang Yoga Philosophy is required by which the five senses, five perceptions and mind are controlled and enables an aspirant to realise God and to attain salvation.
So, please note without doing such practice and controlling five senses, five perceptions, mind and intellect, nothing can be achieved. I also paste one of my articles for your knowledge and adoption:
STUDENT LOSING CONCENTRATION
Concentration is not made on mind, but mind has to be concentrated on particular point or subject etc. It requires practice of Yam, Niyam, Asan, Pranayaam, Pratyahar, Dharnna and Dhyan then one attains Samadhi. In this path, guidance of a spiritual master who knows Vedas and Ashtang Yoga philosophy is needed. Holy name jaap of God helps a lot. I have written a book on Yoga which can be sent on receipt of your postal address. However, personal guidance as stated is essential. It is a moral duty of a student to concentrate on hard study and to look after his health. Avoid bad society always concentrate on your Brahamcharya. Awake early in the morning and after bath-brush etc., do holy name jaap of God at least for fifteen minutes. Go for morning walk and light exercises daily. Take plenty of water i.e., 15-20 glass in a day. Always respect your parents, elders and teachers. Must be soft spoken, Avoid TV to see bad scenes, films etc. This all will help you to concentrate in you study. Whatever, you study and learn, try to write on rough book a lot without seeing books etc. Please refer to the book- “Brahamcharya-Dukh Nivarak Divya Mani”.
Shubh Karma
Hard working, devotion, dedication, honesty, services to the parents and elders to follow eternal religion mentioned in Vedas, practice of Ashtang Yoga, discharging moral duties to get progress in education, science simultaneously with spiritualism like, daily havan, to be in contact with the learned Acharya, to get his advice, are some of the pious deeds which make the future bright and obliterate the sorrows, problems, diseases, etc.
One must wake up early in the morning for early morning walk and exercises, must sit on meditation and chant holy name of God, must be away from any addiction and non-vegetarian. Such pious actions lead to long, happy life and bright future.
There is no effect of evil things etc., because the description of such effects has not been mentioned in Vedas. So are unauthentic. One must never be afraid of such thoughts etc. Please, be brave and do hard work in the life. You are always welcome here.
Anjani Kumar: Swamiji, how can get guru kirpa for God Shree Ram?
Swami Ram Swarup: Guru kirpa is attained by making regular contact with the guru however, we’ll have to think deeply in the matter of Guru. In the Vedas, he is the guru who knows four Vedas and knows Ashtang Yoga Philosophy. I paste my article in this regard. –
About Gurus
There is only one God who creates universe, nurses and destroys and again creates. Yajurveda mantra 31/7 and several other Ved mantras say that God has preached His worship in Vedas. But now a day’s most of the worships are against Vedas, as also said by Tulsidasji in his Ramayana couplet 99 (b). In the ancient times up to Mahabharat period too there were only Vedas to be adopted and worship in the form of prayer, Yajna and Ashtang yoga etc., was being practised. The ancient Rishis Munis used to give Vedas knowledge only. They lived in Gurukul in a very simple life holding unlimited knowledge of Vedas and yoga philosophy and by their Tapsya they used to give equal blessings to the world.
These Rishis Munis used to sit on one platform with whole hearted happiness. For example in Valmiki Ramayana when Rishi Vishwamitr went to King Dashrath to take Shri Ram to kill the demons to protect his holy Yajna. Then Dashrath immediately refused but Dashrath’s Guru Vashisth Muni interrupted, explained and gave order to king Dashrath to give Shri Ram to Rishi Vishwamitr. I am not giving the detailed story here. So what was the reason behind? The reason behind was only this, that Rishi Vishwamitr as well as Guru Vashisth both were philosophers of Vedas, Yajna and Yoga philosophy. So there was no friction within their hearts. A mother and father both, without any friction, love their newly born baby. So when all Rishis loved only one Almighty God, from whom Vedas are originated and again the Rishis loved Vedas, so no question of friction. The Rishis used to bless all people and even kings with the result everybody was happy at that time and everybody
was rich with the blessings. Now it is reverse.
The so-called Gurus are rich and most of the people are poor. In Hinduism too there are so many Devtas and thus the different types of worship. Now whatever one Guru says another one criticizes because ways are different and in reality the religion has been made profession by most of the so-called Gurus at present. When target is not true and good then how the above story of donating Shri Ram can be repeated and how all Gurus can sit on one platform. When the target is profession and not services of people through Vedas then it is impossible that so called Gurus can sit on one platform. The so-called Gurus can say at their own that their target is one but on ground it seems not to be a true. All the so-called Gurus have made their own several ashrams to command, etc.
God has made universe and blessed us human body to do pious deeds only. He has not made any heaven or hell. All have to face the result of their deeds good or bad here only, even by taking rebirth. God has not only made universe but has also given knowledge of four Vedas.
True Saints
In Shatpath Brahmin Granth 3/7/3/10, written by Yask Muni it is said, “VIDWANS HI DEVAHA” i.e., he who is learned of Vedas, he is called Dev. Yajurveda mantra 40/3 says, “ASURYA NAAM TE LOKAHA ANDHEN TAMSA VRITAHA___”means on taking birth a child is called “Manushya” i.e., mankind. If he learns Vedas, does pious deeds and discharges his moral duties well, according to Vedas then he becomes Dev. Otherwise Asur i.e., devil (demon) , one who kills the pure voice of soul and does sins. In Van Parv of Mahabharat Yaksh asked question to Yudhisthar, “KAH NASTIKAH” i.e., who is called atheist? Yudhisthar answers, he who is against and insults Vedas he is atheist (Manusmriti 2/11 also refers). So there are two kinds of men/women according to Yajurveda mantra quoted above. One, “DEV” and second “DEVIL”. So our birth is to become Dev.
Rig-Veda mantra 10/181/1 says that in the beginning of the creation, God always originates the knowledge of four Vedas in the heart of four Rishis, then the said four Rishis spread it further and until now the eternal knowledge of Vedas is being received traditionally. The names of those four Rishis are — Agni, Vaayu, Aditya, Angira, as also mentioned in Rig Veda mantra 10/109/1 and Manusmriti shlok 1/23. This truth is also mentioned in Bhagwad Geeta wherein shlok 3/15 says that Vedas emanate from Almighty God and in shlok 13/4 Shri Krishna says that the knowledge of soul and body is very well mentioned in four Vedas and the Rishis have described the same by many methods. In Atharvaveda mantra 2/35/1& 4 it is preached that Rishis spread the knowledge of holy Yagya (Yajna) to the people to kill their sorrows and Rishis are those, “MANTRADRISHTA ITI RISHIHI” i.e., those who have studied Vedas and Ashtang Yog practice and then realized Almighty God and seen Ved mantras in their heart, they are called Rishis. So the knowledge of the Vedas, as per Rig-Veda mantras quoted above, is given by God Himself to the Rishis and it is eternal truth and cannot be changed that is why in Yog shastra sutra, Rishi Patanjali says, “SA ESH PURVESAHM API GURUHU”. So, next to God is Rishi.
God did not give the knowledge to the present saints. In Vedas, the name of the learned are mentioned as Rishis, Muni, Vipra, Dwij, Agni etc., and not saints. To be next to God it is necessary to have full knowledge of Vedas and Ashtang yoga, as per the rules quoted above.
To know that what is true and what is false, proof is required. Yog shastra in sutra 1/7 says about four proofs within which proof of Vedas to determine the truth is compulsory. However, it makes no difference that if a present saint has learnt four Vedas, done ashtang yoga practice mentioned in Vedas and realized Vedas and God, then he is also next to God. If one declares his name Rishi or Brahamchari and does not know Vedas and yoga philosophy, then he is liar and cheating the public because in Shanti Parv of Mahabharat also Bhisham Pitamaha says to Yudhisthar that there are two kinds of Braham (though God is one). First, “Shabad Braham” i.e., knowledge of four Vedas, second “Par Braham” the realization of formless God Who creates, nurses and destroys the universe. So he who does not know Braham even Shabad Braham – Vedas, then how can he write himself as brahamrishi? Naturally he is cheating the public because most of the public does not know about Vedas and the arrogant (the saints who are against Vedas) have spread false knowledge about Vedas, Yajyen and yoga philosophy.
That is why, Manusmriti 2/168 says that the saint/Guru/Dwij who does not know Vedas but studies false books, he, in his present life goes downwards i.e., experiences sorrows, sufferings etc, etc., with his followers, i.e., their followers also go down and experience the said difficulties etc., but nowadays it is also spread that God takes examination of a worshipper but such type of examinations have not been mentioned in Vedas. And Ramayana also says about such false saints – VARAN DHARAM NAHIN ASHRAMCHARI, SHRUTI VIRODH RAT SAB NAR NARI. Tulsidasji says that at present men and women here have become against the eternal knowledge of Vedas. Again Tulsidasji says in Uttrakand DWIJ SHRUTI BECHAK BHOOP PRAJSAN, KAU NAHIN MAN NIGAM ANUSASAN, i.e., at present mostly the people do not accept the knowledge of Vedas, present saints Gurus have sold the Vedas i.e., they do not know the ABCD about the Vedas.
Again in Nirukta 7/3, it is said that he who studies complete knowledge of Vedas and holy books, puts the preachings thereof into action/conduct and there after preaches others, he is called a Rishi. It is a well-known fact that ancient Rishis used to live in a lonely place/jungle in Gurukuls/Ashram where the students used to get knowledge traditionally, the same process too was adopted by Shri Krishna, Sudama, Shri Ram and their public. It was the effect of Ved mantras on them and the effect of practising Ashtang yoga philosophy, that they used to lead simple way of life without any luxury etc. Whereas nowadays the current saints (against the Vedas) mostly live in bigger cities where way of earning is obtained. The Rishis used to bless the people according to Ved mantra to be the richest and having all comforts in the family etc., whereas now most of the present saints say that money will do nothing, family will do nothing, house will
do nothing, cars and clothes will do nothing and they themselves take lot of money and enjoy luxuries.
The Rishis were free from illness/tension etc., Shwetashwaropnishad 2/12 and 13 says about this fact. So is it not clear that keeping the fact and proof of ved mantra and the said upnishad in mind, those are not rishi-muni etc., who are suffering from multi-farious diseases, tension etc., and too lack the knowledge of four Vedas and Ashtang yoga philosophy mentioned in Vedas.
Study of Mahabharat, holy granth and Valmiki Ramayan reveals that usually the ancient Rishis, who lived in gurukul or in jungle used to go to the kingdom on invitation only. (Valmiki Ramayan Bal Kand sarg 7 also refers). So it is not fair to send disciples door to door to collect money and to arrange maximum gathering/crowd. The Rishis like Vyas Muni etc., used to go mostly on foot and alone to anywhere (Mahabharat says) but now the present saints/Gurus go in a fleet of cars/groups with body guards etc., etc.
The Rishis themselves had simple living without luxury etc., but with their blessings they made people the richest whereas most of the present saints have become the richest with all luxury, gathering money/donation etc., from even poor people and public seems to be poor.
In Brihadarnayk Upnishad there is a debate (shastrarth) between Bal Brahamcharini Gargi and Rishi Yagvalkya. This debate was organized by King Janak. The winner of debate was to be given 500 cows, gold-plated on horns. When Rishi Yagvalkya ordered his disciples to take the cows then King Janak interrupted and requested the Rishi that these cows are meant for him who will win the debate with my supreme Acharya Gargi. King asked the Rishi whether he (Rishi) is Brahamrishi. Yagvalkya Rishi answered, O! King there was shortage of milk in my Gurukul to my students and that is why I wanted to take the cows. But if you want to ask something I am ready. There was a debate and Rishi won and got cows. This story tells that all Rishis used to ask for donation when they needed whereas present saints even having become multimillionaires through donation, ask for more money.
In Upnishad king Janshruti met with Rishi Rakya in lonely place sitting on sand under the shadow of Bullock cart. Whereas present saints meet people sitting on highly decorated and valuable throne. Rishi Jadbharat was sitting alone in a jungle on the earth. When he was asked to carry the palanquin (palki) putting one side on his shoulder, then he immediately became ready without any pride and walked on foot. Mostly now this cannot be repeated.
There are maximum examples of the ancient Rishis who were Tapsvi, lovers of truth, who are adorable.
S. S.: My husband is not well .How can I save my Husband through Mantra or puja? Is it possible?
Swami Ram Swarup:
Ans. My blessings to you, my daughter. You’ve not briefed about the problem of your husband, please. But in next question it has been briefed so please see the answer in reply to your following question. Mantras, pooja will also help, daily hawan with Ved mantras and aahutis of Samigri and ghee are offered in pious burning fire of hawan kund. Only Ved mantras are helpful please.
S. S.: My husband is suffering from cancer. According to the doctor it is in 4th stage. Can you tell me how can I take care him, so that he will cure?
Swami Ram Swarup:
Ans. My blessings to you, my daughter. I am sorry my daughter to listen about the 4th stage of stomach cancer of your husband. Really, it is a sad news for me also. You know, at this stage, doctor also show themselves helpless. But there is a supreme power- Almighty God Who helps always if we worship Him properly. Proper worship means the worship as has been preached by God in Vedas. I would therefore advise you to start immediately daily hawan even with Gayatri mantra offering at least 51 aahutis in the burning, pious fire of hawan kund daily both times. Aahuti by your husband must be offered from cow’s milk ghee especially otherwise any pure ghee can be used. You must sit along with your husband, towards his left side and must offer aahuti from hawan samagri in which special items as pasted on this website should be mixed in the samagri. Please see to it that Munacca, Banakshaw, at least four dried fruits like cashew nuts, almonds, walnuts, raisins
(kishmish) are added to samagri. These are beneficial and curative measures against cancer.
I hope you will work hard in this way, this is also the best worship of the God, say Vedas. However, I would like to advise you to read my book- Yajya Karma – Sarvashreshth Ishwar Pooja and do hawan with Ved mantras mentioned therein which are more effective, beneficial and curative.
Since they can contain complete procedure you will also be able to know the meaning of each mantra since I have clarified each mantra in detail in book. Medical treatment must never be broken, please. My blessings are with you and I pray to God to cure your husband.
Jyoti: Which is an auspicious day to conduct Graha Pravesh Pooja?
Swami Ram Swarup: Shubh Din
All the days, week, month, years, minutes, seconds have been created by God and thus are always pious. Regarding the philosophy of deeds, Vedas tell that we have come here to face the previous lives’ deeds (good or bad) according to Rigveda mantra 10/135/1,2 and we have to face the said deeds in the shape of pleasure and pain respectively. So, the days are not concerned with auspiciousness or bad omens. If we do pious deeds today then one day we will enjoy pleasure and if we do bad deeds then in the future on any day we will have to face sorrows awarded by God. So, the day becomes full of pleasure or full of sorrows when we face our deeds as said above. So days are never good or bad but always pious and gifted. So days are never good or bad, but always pious and gifted to us by God to always do pious deeds to enjoy life.
Also the days, nights and times are never ashubh (unfortunate) being created by the purest God. only deeds done by us are bad or good. And based on the previous lives’ deeds we have to face the result thereof accordingly on one particular day and time. So days are not good or bad. It is our own deeds done by us which are bad or good.
So one can enter at one’s own convenience or suitability in his newly constructed house, shop etc., or start any pious work at any time. However, one should perform havan with Ved mantras before ensuing any of those works. It does not depends on any name and date of birth etc. because it is not mentioned in Vedas. We must be always away from blind faith.
Prem Sachdeva: I am your ardent follower at the website. I had arranged your preachings on Sadhna TV and Aastha TV about two years ago although the technical quality was not good. I have already asked your staff to improve the quality of recordings so that people benefit from your preachings. If I can be of any help I will be too glad to contribute to the cause.
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you for a long, happy life my son. I pleased to read your views and about your help in telecasting the Cds. Really, you are rendered services to God because Vedas tell that he who tries to spread the knowledge of Vedas, God loves him as a son and gives blessings to him.
I did not know about your advise to my staff but you see that due to financial circumstances I have always been hindered from making good Cds. However, by the help of some followers, recently two audio Cds have been prepared whose quality of recording is the best. One CD contains my own composed poetry in the form of bhajans and though the Cds are in rough form presently, containing just 10% work been done on them and remaining 90% work like filling music etc., is in progress in Bombay yet have been appreciated by everyone.
Second CD contains Sufi bhajans of Yari phakir, Bullehshah, Mira Bai , Khusro Sahib, Shri Guru Bani etc., before singing each bhajan there is a pracachan of about 2 ½ minutes to brief the spiritual secret meaning of each word of the bhajan to enable the listener to understand the pious ideas of saints who have written such pious bhajans.
Now, there is only one problem that the above CDs are audio not video. So I would request you first to please get it broadcasted at All India Radio Station etc., in Bhajan programme. The CDs would be in hand by 12th April , 2009 . Secondly, my followers are trying to convert this audio CD into Video also which may take further one month or more time. I am telling my disciple to make conversation with you. My blessings to you.
Suneer Sharma: Pranaam, please tell me the significance of 108 beeds in every mala we perform in pooja?
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. Significance of number of chants in mantra chanting.
No please, there is no any significance of numbers. It is according to time which suits a person. It may be hundred or more even. It is not necessary that before Gayatri no mantra can be chanted. Every Ved mantra, however, is started from the holy name of God i.e., Om. And it is also better if we praise, worship and pray God reciting Gayatri mantra before chanting Ved mantra. It has been tradition of our ancient rishis munis also.
Kanchan: Swamiji, pranam. Could you please explain God’s intention behind creating “dwait” in innumerable ways that we see all around us? Thank you for your time and guidance.
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you, my daughter. If we study Vedas and then shastras etc., and also the views of the learned of Vedas those of ancient and present Rishi-munis then we will be able to know that God has no intention /desire. He is forever free from any desire. Desire is the subject matter pertaining to living beings by which they get indulged in illusion, problems, tensions, etc., whereas God is above all illusions, deeds desires etc.
Shwetashwataropnishad shloka 6/8 state that “Swabhaviki Gyan Bal Kriya Cha” i.e., the divine knowledge, power and karmas/deeds of God are natural i.e., it happens automatically. So, the process of creation, nursing and destruction of universe is natural and takes place automatically at a proper time. Now, come to the point of Dwait. God has not created Dwaitwad. Vedas tell about Traitwad i.e., three matters are eternal- Prakriti, which is non-alive, souls – alive matter and Almighty God who is alive, creator and lord of the universe.
As regards Raag and Dwesh are seen everywhere in the world, these are effect of prakriti’s three qualities i.e., Raj, tam and satva gunnas. God has nothing to do with any Raag-dwesh and illusion etc., to be imposed on any human being. The soul resides in the body of human-being, is himself attracted towards prakriti made matters like beautiful bodies of opposite gender, gold, silver, diamonds , kaam (sensuality), krodh (anger), pride, ego, bungalows, etc., which are generated from prakriti’s three gunnas . Such prakriti made matters attract the soul through five senses and the soul thus forgets his eternal form of being immortal and being the form of divine pleasure. On the other hand soul due to attraction towards above quoted illusion feels that he is worried, sick, tense , in problem etc. When one establishes contact with a learned acharya of Vedas and yoga Philosophy then acharya’s eternal, pious preach enables the soul to drift away from illusion and dwesh, etc.
R: Swamiji namastey, main daily pranayam karta hun & subah uthkar & raat mein sone se pahle 3 baar gayatri mantra bolta hun or bhagwan ka dhanyavaad karta hun ki mujhe jo aaj tak diya hai…main or kaise acchche karma kar kar sakta hun daily…maine ab idol worship chod di hai but mujhe kuch samajh hi nahi aa raha kya kiya karu or?
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. I am really glad to know your pious views about the worship of God. My blessings are always with you, my son. If you are able to come here to me even for 2-3 days then you will be able to gain knowledge of name –jaap of God properly and about practice of Yoga Philosophy. If it is not possible then please send your postal address and I shall brief the process of name jaap and yoga Philosophy in detail and will send it to you by post. Again my blessings to you.
S: I would like to now remedy for stopping hair fall and greying of hair.
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. Sorry, my dear, I do not know the remedy of curing greying of hair or hair fall. You are advised to seek medical opinion- Allo pathic/Ayurvedic /homeopathic whatever suits you.
Ritwik: Meaning of the word SUMIR in the first name of Hindu boys.
Swami Ram Swarup: Sumir means name jaap of God .
