Bisista Rana: Swami ji namaskar. If some sudra caste come to you and say I am untouchable lower class caste and ask you to accept as your disciple, do you accept him as your disciple with your heart? Swami ji please reply. I’m asking this because Manu Smiriti is very offensive about the sudras.
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. First of all, I may tell you that Manusmiriti is never against the scheduled castes. But due to our bad luck, some bad elements have added the false shlokas in the Manusmriti to destroy our eternal culture and nation. God has stated some fundamentals in Vedas about listening of Vedas only from a learned acharya who has practised ashtang yoga philosophy and remains in meditation/Samadhi stage because he will never tell a lie and he has special natural power in his mind to differentiate between true and false shlokas. But nowadays, such important religious books are being taught by those who do not know about Vedas and ashtang yoga Philosophy and hence the problem.

So, caste system is not based on birth but is based on deeds. So, one should not tell if a scheduled caste comes but should tell that if a person comes to you, then it is O.K. Because, acharya himself selects the person, whether Brahmin, kshatriya, vaishya , shudra etc., that who is capable to be a true disciple. Otherwise he will try to make him a true disciple. So, everybody is welcome by all true acharyas to come to them.

Sudhir G: Thank you very much for your response, guidance, and assistance! I would greatly appreciate if you could send me some materials. I am very fortunate to have found your website, so I can learn from a truly knowledgeable acharya such as yourself. I have always been very sceptical of superstition, and I greatly respect you for condemning false beliefs and superstition in society. In the future, when I come to India again to visit my extended family, I would like to come to your ashram to meet with you and learn more from you if it would be possible given your time constraints and schedule. Also, one last question I have. Could you please tell me what my name “Sudhir” means in Sanskrit? Thank you again very much!
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. Your views are highly appreciated, my son, for which I congratulate to you also. You are always welcome here in Ved Mandir. Some spiritual books written by me, by the blessings of God and spiritual Cds are being sent to you. Your name is really nice because it is related with religious matter. Manu smriiti states that if a person has ten good qualities i.e., Dhriti, kshama, dum, asteya, shauch, indriya nigraha, dhee, vidya, satya, akrodh; he is a real religious person. The first good quality is stated as “Dhriti”, the meaning thereof is dheer i.e., steadfast, patient , persevering . So, the meaning of your name is Su i.e., good, wonderful and dheer means as stated above. So the meaning of Sudheer will be – he who has good, wonderful steadfast mind.

Deepak: Guru ji charan sparsh. Guruji I wanted to ask if I do daily yoga and havan, is it necessary to do meditation? And if it is necessary then should we chant any mantra while doing meditation?
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you, my son. Yes, please. In addition practice of asan, prannayam and meditation is also necessary which helps for early realization of God. Again, My blessings to you.
